Karen “Kate” Kay  Enis, 78, passed away suddenly Friday, December 9, 2017 at Wyoming Medical Center in Casper, Wyoming.

Born December 22, 1938 in Marcus, Iowa, she was the daughter of Roy E. and Bernice (Riedeman) Whetstine.  The family later moved to Owl Creek, Wyoming where her father worked on ranches and she attended the Owl Creek School. Karen enjoyed the ranch lifestyle, the horses and the livestock.

On November 21, 1977, she married William R. Enis in Cody, WY.  Until her late husband became ill, Karen worked as a bartender and housekeeper. She then stayed home to care for Bill.   She later worked at the Hot Springs County Museum, enjoying her time there, especially the old photos and watering the flowers.  She was also a caregiver for her mother, Bernice Splittgerber.

Her last occupation was with the Senior Center as a Home Companion, enjoying all her clients.  She was a member of the Eagles Lodge and the Lutheran Church.

Karen enjoyed traveling, often with Bill while he ran his business, Valley Construction.  Along with her children and grandchildren she loved to go camping, fishing,and horseback riding. She enjoyed baking and riding her four-wheeler.

Those cherishing her memory include children, Ed (Lisa) Roberts, JR (Julie) Roberts, Mike (Kim) Enis, Monty (Nancy) Roberts-Jaure, Debbie (James) Young, Jo Zastro, Patty Roberts (Mike) Bledsoe, Kay Reddon (Jack) Morningstar, Jackie Reddon (Boo) Brady, 22 grandchildren and 31 great grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and brother, William Whetstine.

Memorial graveside services will be held Wednesday, December 13, 11:00 am at Monument Hill Cemetery with Wayne Brost presiding.  A dinner at the VFW will follow.
