Kinsel, Troy
June 11, 1963 – May 18, 2017

Troy Kinsel was born in Casper, Wyoming, to George and Helen Kinsel, and his sister, Sheila. The family of four lived in Wyoming before moving to Texas for ten years, and then settled in Thermopolis, where Troy attended high school and was Salutatorian of his graduating class. He attended the University of Wyoming, and then attained a Master’s Degree at the University of Missouri.

After college graduation, Troy spent seven years in the Air Force as an officer, attaining the level of Captain, and earning a Commendation Medal and a National Defense Service Medal. In 1985 Troy moved to Nashville, first to serve as a training officer for the Air Force, and then he accepted a position with the State of Tennessee, where he had several roles and promotions over the years. His final title was Enterprise Project Manager for Strategic Technology Solutions division of Department of Finance and Administration.

Those who knew him would agree that Troy had a delightful, quirky sense of humor, a ready smile, and laugh. He was kind and was known to be a generous and considerate friend, though he was very conscious of every penny spent in his own life, and dearly enjoyed a bargain! He loved his family deeply and took regular visits to see them in Thermopolis, Wyoming. As a believer in Christ, Troy attended church and a men’s group at Restoration Church.

Troy was an accomplished, competition dancer and a very popular partner for social dancing, and enjoyed leading a fast two-step, an elegant night club, or an energetic west coast swing; he was an active Boy Scouts Commissioner and a member of Scouting’s National Honor Society; he enjoyed travel and in recent years had several adventures via Caribbean cruises, his most recent trips were to the Mediterranean in 2015 and Australia/New Zealand in 2016, and he was preparing to leave for an upcoming trip to cruise Alaska. Troy was an accomplished Toastmaster; enjoyed gun shows; and was involved in the real estate investing community. Troy also served as a volunteer as a certified Alateen Sponsor. He was never one to brag or share details of his accomplishments or contributions, but the outpouring of condolences from so many walks of life make it clear that Troy touched many lives and will be sorely missed.

Troy is preceded in death by his father, George Kinsel, his sister, Sheila, a niece, a nephew and grandparents. He is survived by his beloved mother, Helen Kinsel, nieces, Stephanie Comstock (Stu) and Katherine Anderson (Chelsey), a great nephew, Colin, his girlfriend, Lavonne Olive, along with many cousins and friends.

Troy will be interred in the family plot on Monument Hill Cemetery, at a graveside service with military honors on June 17th at 10:30am. In lieu of flowers, Troy would be honored by a contribution to Room In the Inn where he volunteered for homeless people (http://www.roomintheinn.org) or Nashville Humane Society because of his love of animals (http://www.nashvillehumane.org). All notices of gifts in his honor, along with cards or letters of condolence, can be sent to Mrs. Helen Kinsel and Family, 160 N Lowell, Casper, Wyoming 82601.
