Alfred “Al” Vallee, 87, passed away Saturday, November 14, 2020 at Hot Springs County Memorial Hospital in Thermopolis after a period of declining health.
Born April 26, 1933 in Chicago, Illinois, he was one of two children of George and Florence (Wallenstein) Vallee. Following school he was self employed as a painting contractor and later as a wild game processor.
On June 13, 1979 he married Karen Worley in Chicago. The couple and their families later moved to Wyoming, finally settling in Thermopolis.
A passion for architecture, he loved dogs, hunting and the great outdoors. Multitalented, he always said he was born 100 years too late as he had an affinity for the old west. He was a gun smith and custom stock maker. Al never met a person he couldn’t call a friend.
He is survived by his wife, Karen; sons, Christopher Vallee and Louis LaBoy, both of Thermopolis and George Vallee of Chicago; daughters, Donna Frick and Diana Larsen, both of Chicago and Christina Witt of Missoula, MT; twelve grandchildren and five great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a sister, Shirley Snyder, daughter, Virginia Walker and son, Will LaBoy.
A life long Catholic, a private mass will be held because of Covid but a celebration of his life will be held in the spring.
