Betty Jane (Johnson) Rickman

Betty Jane Rickman, 80, passed away at Hot Springs Health Wednesday, September 21, 2022 following a time of declining health.

Born December 4, 1941 in Heavener, Oklahoma, she was one of four children of Willie and Winnie (Rex) Johnson.  

On July 20, 1956 she married John D Rickman in Yuma, Arizona.  To this union was born four children.  The family moved from Westminster, California to Thermopolis in 1966.  She and John owned Grant’s Grocery where Betty was instrumental in operating the business.  Later she became the Housekeeping Supervisor for Hot Springs County Memorial Hospital serving 20 years.

Betty was involved in 4-H and an active member of the Risen Son Southern Baptist Church.  She enjoyed reading, crocheting, loved Wyoming history, Morgan horses and visiting old cemeteries.

Those cherishing her life include her children, Willie (Karen) Rickman, Tammy (Jim) Collins, Mike (Julie) Rickman; sister, Dortha Stilts of Colorado Springs, CO, fourteen grandchildren and thirty- three great grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her daughter, Lorry Long, husband, John, sister, Liz Taylor and brother, Bill Johnson.

Graveside services will be held Monday, September 26, 2022, 11:00 AM at Monument Hill Cemetery with Pastor Brian Johnson officiating and music provided by niece, Della Smith.
