Betty Jane “B.J.” Dunbar, 78, passed away at her home in Red Lane, Hot Springs County, Wyoming, February 3, 2020.
Born December 22, 1942 in Hillsdale, Michigan, she was the daughter of Billie and Donna (Fink) Houghtby.
She married John G. Dunbar, July 23, 1961 in Cambria, Michigan. The couple moved to Wyoming in 1977, then to Thermopolis in 1990. A secretary and librarian, she was employed by R & S Well Service and the Hot Springs County Library. B.J. enjoyed reading, knitting and visiting with friends.
A faithful and active member of Eastern Star, she was initiated in Michigan, June 18, 1976. Moving to Wyoming she was a member of Newcastle Chapter #30, then after moving to Thermopolis she joined Vesper Chapter #19. Holding many offices she served as Worthy Matron several times, Grand Chaplain in 1990 and Grand Representative to Kentucky in 1998. Her greatest memory was proudly serving as her husband’s escort when he served as Worthy Grand Patron. Her dedication to John was admired by many.
B.J. is survived by a brother in Michigan; nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, 2004, her parents and her dog, Ted.
Graveside services conducted by the Easter Star will be held at a later date.
