Charles Lee Black Sr., 79, died February 4, 2023 at the Thermopolis Rehabilitation and Wellness where he had recently become a resident.
Born July 28, 1943 in Homedale, Idaho, he was one of ten children of Albert and Marie (Gore) Black.
He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Vietnamese War. For most of his life he worked as a Building Contractor, often for the L E Boyd Roofing Company in California.
Married to Birdie Fritz, the couple had two children. They were later divorced.
After retirement he moved from California to Thermopolis in 2013 to be near his sister, Ailene. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and watching Western movies.
Survivors include his children, Charles, Jr. and Charliene Black-Gunn, both of California; brothers, Larry of Post Falls, ID, Glen of Orange Cove, CA and Alvin of Carson City, NV; sisters, Ailene Daniels of Thermopolis, WY and Nora Goodwin of Carson City, NV; grandsons, Kevin and Steven Gunn and numerous nieces and nephews.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, James Black, Lonnie and Orville Larabee, and Tommy Black and two former wives.
A Celebration of Charles’ life will be held at a later date in California.
