David "Dave" Charles Smith

David Charles Smith, 79, passed away Wednesday, November 18, 2020 at Thermopolis Health.

Born May 30, 1941, in Greybull, Wyoming, he was the son of John and Mary (Giovanni) Smith.  He graduated from Manderson High School.

On June 16, 1963 he married Frances Ann Bury in Thermopolis, WY.  To this union was born three children.

David was employed at Reda Pump.  He became head of maintenance at Hot Springs County School District #1 until retirement.

David could fix anything and probably had the parts in his garage to do so.  He loved to find antique furniture which he would then repair and refinish restoring its beauty.  He always had a project in the works.  His pride and joy were his grandchildren and great grands.  He was a kind and generous man who would offer his help to anyone.

He was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church.  He enjoyed collecting coins, watching old westerns, going to the swimming pool and helping at Merlin’s Hide Out.

Family cherishing his memory include sons, Anthony (Lindsay) of Duvall, WA and Andrew (Keri) of Casper, WY; daughter, Annette (Mark) Viergets of Beulah, WY; twelve grandchildren, Kelsey, Kali, Kynsi, Theo, Nicole, Natalie, Oakley, Yule, Graham, Amy, Courtney and Colby and eleven great grandchildren, the newest being Kyra.  He was preceded in death by his parents, wife of 45 years and brother.

Graveside services will be held Tuesday, November 24, 2020, 2:00 PM at Monument Hill Cemetery with Father Randy Oswald officiating.

Memorials may be made to the H.S.Co. Senior Center of the Thermopolis Chamber of Commerce.
