Elizabeth Louise “Betty” Scoggin, 87, passed away Thursday, January 23, 2020, at Hot Springs County Memorial Hospital in Thermopolis following a period of failing health.
Born October 2, 1932 in Rawlins, Wyoming, she was the only girl of four children of John and Ellen (Hennek) Morgan.
On September 17, 1955, Betty married James “Jim” Scoggin in Rawlins, Wyoming. The couple moved to Thermopolis where they raised their children, Ellen “Lori” and William Edward. For many years Betty was a Nurse’s Aide at the Wyoming Pioneer Home in Thermopolis.
She was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church. Her interests included traveling, camping and bowling.
Cherishing her memory are her daughter, Ellen “Lori” Kiper of Odessa, TX, grandchildren, Gina Kiper and James (Evelyne) Kiper of Texas; and great grandchildren, Ellie and Eric Kiper and Lily Lynn. Betty was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jim; son, Eddie Scoggin and three brothers, Bernard, Bill and Joe Morgan.
A parish vigil will be held Wednesday eve, January 29, 7:00 pm at St.Francis Church with Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday 11:00 am.
