Ellen Laverne Kenyon
January 2, 1938 – February 24, 2023
Ellen Kenyon, 85, passed away Friday February 24, 2023, in the comfort of her home, in Thermopolis WY. Born on the family ranch in Boyd, MT on January 2, 1938 to Leland Kenyon and Helen Leimback Kenyon. Due to complications at birth Ellen was born with cerebral palsy. Ellen lived a remarkable and full life under the loving care of her grandmother, Blanche Kenyon. She spent most of her early years in Billings, MT where she attended school; she also attended school for 2 years in El Monte, CA.
Ellen’s greatest joy was her family, and most especially her BHE family. She had an indomitable spirit, loved the lord, and never met a stranger. She was taught not to compete with the world, but to accept her limitations and to always give back. Ellen had a wonderful sense of humor, and often surprised people with an unexpected quip. Ellen wrote stories about her life and her friends. Attended fishing has no boundaries and loved to bowl. The caregivers of Big Horn Enterprises not only provided excellent care and love, they also taught her to be productive, gave her a sense of worth, and provided all the social amenities she could possibly want. She lived and worked with Big Horn Enterprises for 38 years, and developed lifelong friendships. The family will always be grateful for the good people of this facility.
Ellen is survived by Mary Ann Tress of Riverton, WY, one brother, Nick Kenyon (Judy) of Hood River, OR, two sisters Roxene Phillips of Marion, NC, and Dana Herman of Laurel, MT. 5 nieces and 4 nephews, and many cousins. Ellen was preceded in death by her mother and father, her step mother Hilda Kenyon, her grandparents, Earl and Blanche Kenyon. Her aunt and uncle, Alcidene and Dwayne Trees who lovingly cared for her for several years. Two brother in laws, James Phillips and Raleigh Herman; and her very special cousin, Bill Trees. It was Bill and his wife Mary Ann who faithfully visited Ellen over the years, bringing her ice cream and goodies, and much teasing and laughter.
Today, Ellen is dancing in heaven.
