Franklin Skeen Obituary

Franklin Scott Skeen passed away on January 15, 2024 at home peacefully in Thermopolis, Wyoming at the age of 69. He leaves behind a legacy of unwavering love as a father, brother and grandfather.

Born January 29, 1954 in Basin, Wyoming, he was the son of Richard “Dick” and Dorothy (Myers) Skeen.  He was a graduate of Powell Senior High School in 1972 and attended Northwest Community College in Powell where he met his future wife Susan Hadley. They were married in October of 1976 and were blessed with two children Clay Skeen and Samantha Linde. Frank worked for Bob and Mary Hadley on the Hadley Ranch when it was in Cody on the South Fork and then moved to Thermopolis to work on the ranch on Owl Creek.  When the ranch was sold and moved to Sundance, Frank and Susan worked for Don Hatten on Buffalo Creek in Thermopolis while their kids finished school. They then moved and worked for Washakie Feeders until they moved to California. In 2007 they divorced and went their separate ways but were still good friends.  Frank was fortunate to work for the Thermopolis Golf Course as a greens keeper and was liked by everyone. He retired from the golf course and settled into his retirement years enjoying his kids and grandkids.

Frank was a member of the Lions Club where he was instrumental in getting the Ranch Rodeo set up and started for the community. The rodeo youth of Wyoming were blessed to have Frank, Susan and Dennis and Cindy Longwell who started the WJRA (Wyoming Junior Rodeo Association) and is still a strong association for our young cowboys and cowgirls.

He is survived by his son Clay Skeen (Melissa) of Buffalo Wyoming, daughter Samantha Linde (Nick) of Casper, Wyoming, sister Ruth Jackman (Donnie) of Thermopolis and brother John Skeen of Nampa, Idaho. Three grandchildren, Dilan, Rylei and Jaxon who Frank was so proud of and loved with all his heart. He was preceded in death by his parents.
