George Allen Obituary

George Douglas “Doug” Allen, 76, passed away Thursday, August 20, 2020 at his residence in Thermopolis after a long bout with cancer.

Born February 1, 1944 in Coleman, Texas, he was one of six children of Danel and Alma (Clements) Allen.  He graduated in 1962 from Tech High in Fort Worth, TX as an Aircraft Mechanic then joined the US Navy where he served six years as a Flight Engineer.

On January 13, 1978 he married Carolynn Sue Walker in Texas.  For 25 years Doug was a police offer, then Chief of Police for 10 years for the city of Grandview, TX.  He then was employed by the Grandview School District as Network Administrator for 15 years.

Doug retired and moved to his favorite place, Thermopolis, in 2014 to be with his best friend of 58 years, Duane Richter.  Doug enjoyed photography, youth work, airplanes, hunting and anything “Wyoming”.

Cherishing his memory are his children, George Allen Jr of Vietnam, Charity Munn of Thermopolis and Theresa Edwards of Tampa, FL; brother, Dean Allen of Alvarado, TX, grandchildren, Brandie, Alyssa, Dan, Madison and Jadyn , three great grandchildren and his Saint Bernard, Hercules. .  Preceding him in death were his parents, wife, brothers, Danny and James, sisters, Billie Johnson, Betty Sue Allen, and nephew, Greg Allen.

Memorial services will be held Wednesday, August 26, 11:00 AM at the First Baptist Church with Pastor Tony Newhouse officiating.
