Helen Louise (Sidebottom) Dowdell

Helen Louise Dowdell, 81, passed away February 27, 2021, at Hot Springs Memorial Hospital in Thermopolis.

Born July 14, 1939 in Melrose, Massachusetts, she was the daughter of Arthur and Raney (Carlisle) Sidebottom.  The family moved to Kentucky when Helen was three.

On August 24, 1957 she married Roger Edward Dowdell in Louisville, KY.  For most of Helen’s life she worked in a clerical position for insurance companies.  The couple moved to Worland, WY in 1975, later to Colorado and then Illinois where they helped care for his ailing mother.  In 2000, Roger and Helen moved to Thermopolis, WY

A member of Risen Son Southern Baptist Church, she was active with the Messiah’s Mall and an aide at their Christian School.  She was an avid reader, enjoyed sewing and worked at the local library. 

Those cherishing her memory are her children, Roger (Dawna)  Dowdell, Jr of Silt, CO and Shannon (Mark) Walker of Thermopolis; grandchildren, Clayton (Erin) Dowdell, Rachel (Justin Covington) Dowdell, Cassie (Troy) Nelsen, Justin (Summer) Melin, Michal Melin and Zach (Breanne) Walker; and six great grandchildren.  Helen was preceded in death by her parents. brother, Paul Sidebottom and her husband, Roger (2017).

Memorial services will be Thursday, March 11, 2021, 11:00 am at the Risen Son Southern Baptist Church with Pastor Brian Johnson officiating.  Memorials may be sent to 342 Amoretti, for the Risen Son Christian School.
