JACK HOWARD MAYFIELD

Jack Howard Mayfield passed away on November 2, 2025, at the Banner  Wyoming Health Center in Casper, Wyoming.  Jack was born in Cheyenne, Wyoming on April 28, 1956, as the third of four children born to Conrad and Marjorie (Lawrence) Mayfield.  As a child his family moved around a lot, but lived mostly on the west coast.  In the mid 1960’s Jack’s parents divorced and his mother later remarried Melvin Slack and combined their families.

In 1972 the family moved to Florence, Missouri, where Jack graduated from Tipton High School in 1976.  Immediately after graduation Jack entered the United States Marine Corp and served for 9 years.  While in the Marines Jack worked on heavy equipment.  In the Marines Jack was stationed in Southern California, Camp Lejeune, South Carolina, and Okinawa.

During Jack’s time at Camp Lejeune he met and married the love of his life, Deborah Shupe.  After the birth of their second son Jack and Debbie decided to stay in Fries, Virginia and raise their two sons.  While in Virginia Jack worked in maintenance at two different furniture factories.

In 2009 after the boys were grown and after the passing of his mother and father-in-law, the couple moved to Thermopolis, Wyoming, where Jack worked for the State Park and Nielsen Oil.  Jack and Debbie also joined the Community Federated Church.

In 2014 Jack’s beloved wife of 33 years passed away leaving a huge hole in his life.  Jack retired and spent his days helping his parents in their daily lives.

Jack never met a stranger and was willing to help anyone that asked or if he saw a need.  While attending the Community Federated Church, Jack enjoyed working the sound system and helping as needed.

Jack was proceeded in death by his wife, Deborah Shupe Mayfield; his son, Charles Leroy (Lee) Mayfield; his father, Conrad L. Mayfield; his step-father, Melvin L. Slack; his mother-in-law and father-in-law; two sisters, Martha Louise Mayfield and Peggy L. Slack-Lohman; two brothers, Roy L. Mayfield, and James C. (Skip) Slack; grandparents and one niece.
