Jean Marie Stanhope passed away at her home on January 17, 2026 in Thermopolis.
Jean was born in Beach, North Dakota on November 4, 1935 to Harold and Veva (Schrader) Oldis. They lived in Sentinnial Butte, North Dakota. They moved to Iowa when Jean was 2. They then moved to Baker Montana when Jean started 7th grade.
Jean was in 4-H, Glee Club, and Band while in school.
Jean married Gary Stanhope May 3, 1953. To this union 4 children were born Jerry, Thomas, Lona and Dona. Before Jerry was born Dad was shipped overseas to Korea.
During their 67 years of marriage Jean was a taxi driver, ambulance driver, cub scout den mother, 4-H leader, judge at county fairs, Diabetic Educator, Master Knitter, Sunday school teacher and in the Golden Age Club.
Funeral services will be on Friday, January 23rd at 1p.m. at the River of Life Church in Thermopolis. Burial will follow at the Monument Hill Cemetery.
