Master Sargent John James Roark, 73, died Sunday, November 21, 2021 after a short illness.
Born August 18, 1948 in Rome, New York, he was one of nine children of John and Betty (Rapp) Roark. Following high school he joined the US Air Force where he served 20 years, seeing much of the world.
After meeting Ellen in Utah in 1992, the couple wed in 1994 in New York. They moved to Thermopolis in 2009.
John was a member of the American Legion and VFW. He enjoyed fishing, playing darts, and carpentry. After retirement he enjoyed his days socializing with friends.
He is survived by his wife, Ellen, of 27 years; seven brothers and one sister; children, Laura Roark of Las Vegas, NV and Cindy Thebo of Michigan; stepsons, Chris and J.J. Hastie, both of Thermopolis; and eight grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
