Joyce Marie (Meyers) Dierks

Joyce Marie Dierks, 90, passed away Sunday, January 31, 2021 at the Wyoming Retirement Center in Basin, Wyoming.

Born January 04, 1931 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, she was one of 4 daughters of George and Winifred (Smith) Meyers.  As her father was in the military, the family lived in various installations including Louisiana, Texas and Hawaii.  Coming to Wyoming she graduated from Sheridan High School in 1949.  For a time she was a switchboard operator and movie attendant.

Her dream to be married and raise children came into fruition when she married Jerry Dierks, July 10, 1956 in Martinsdale, Iowa.  They raised four children while living in Iowa, Sheridan, Lovell, Basin and then Thermopolis, Wyoming.

She sang with the Holy Cats singing group and was a member of Community Federated Church in Thermopolis.  Joyce was passionate about her family and enjoyed writing and singing.  After her husband’s death in 2009 she later resided at the Wyoming Pioneer Home until May 2019, at which time she moved to the Wyoming Retirement Center.

Cherishing her memory are her children, Jay of Denver, Co, Jeffrey of Thermopolis and Jenny Kaser of Ranchester, WY; sister, Mary Jean; six grandchildren and two great grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her son John, son-in-law, Michael Kaser, grandchildren, Jacob and Apryl Dierks; husband, Jerry and two sisters, Shirley and Dorothy.

Graveside services will be held in the late Spring.  Memorials may be made to Stillwater Hospice, 444 Montana Ave, Lovell, WY 82431.
