Thermopolis resident, Landis F. Webber, 92, passed away Wednesday, April 17, 2024 at Hot Springs Health after a period of declining health.
The only child of Vernon and Alberta (Merrill) Webber, Landis was born March 13, 1932 in Los Angeles, California. His Aunt Mary Merrill brought him to Thermopolis at the age of 3 months where he was raised by his aunt and grandparents on Owl Creek.
A rancher all of his life, he owned and leased ranches throughout Hot Springs County, only retiring in his 80’s but continued to work his cows. Landis was extremely proud of his Herford cattle.
On December 27, 1950, he married Barbara Oreskovich/Anthony in Thermopolis, Wyoming. The couple had two girls and three boys. Landis especially enjoyed his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Family members include his daughter, Candace Whitt of Thermopolis and sons, Landis (Kelly) of Cody, John (Leslie) and George Webber, both of Thermopolis; grandchildren, Stacy Blick, Daniel Webber, Heather Robinson, Pete Hoffman, Mary Baker and Anna Lavin; 13 great grandchildren and one great, great granddaughter. Landis was preceded in death by his parents, infant daughter, Cecelia in 1952 and his wife, Barbara, in 2023.
A Parish Vigil will be held Monday, April 29, 6:00 PM at St. Francis Catholic Church with Mary Haugen officiating and Mass of Resurrection Tuesday, April 30, 2024, 10:30 AM, officiated by Father Robert Rogers of Worland, WY. Burial will follow at Monument Hill Cemetery.
