Larry Dwain Burgess, 76, passed away December 13, 2019 at the Wyoming Retirement Center in Basin, WY where he had resided the past 2-3 year.
Born April 13, 1943 in Lance Creek, WY, he was the son of Robert “Bob” and Evelyn (Devoe) Burgess. After graduating from Rock River High School he began working for the Wyoming Game & Fish and was with them 35 years. His work sites at fish hatcheries included Como Bluff, Ten Sleep, Clark’s Fork, Lovell and Dubois. He not only loved the outdoors but enjoyed hunting and fishing.
On August 5, 1962, Larry married Sharon Hilbird in Rock River. Following retirement the couple moved to Thermopolis where Larry drove the cancer bus in the basin area for several years.
Those cherishing his memory include his wife of 57 years; son, Lawrence; grandchildren, Weston (Naomi) and Jonathan (Monica) and Michelle and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Allen “Chub” and daughter-in-law, Beth Burgess.
A Celebration of Larry’s life will be held later in 2020.
