Leroy Malchow Obituary

Leroy Malchow, 72, died unexpectedly, September 16, 2021 at his home in Thermopolis, Wyoming.

Leroy was born January 1, 1949 in Hartford, Wisconsin to Harry and Agnes (Wuesthoff) Malchow.

Throughout his life Leroy enjoyed trips to go fishing, loved watching Packers football, listening to rock-n-roll music and telling stories of the wild days back in his youth. He also was a Gun Smoke afficionado, having watched the entire series innumerous times.

While still in Hartford, Leroy would commute to Milwaukee and work in a foundry with his father, Harry. There, they fabricated the sand molds in preparation for the hot molten iron to be poured into them. Over the years, Leroy took on several different trades.  After moving to Riverton, Wyoming in 1977, he worked as a tile setter for Style Homes.  From there, the oil field, working as a pumper then went on to painting homes for the remainder of his working career.

Leroy was a free spirit and known to be quite the jokester. He will be deeply missed by all who loved him. Throughout the years, Leroy kept his Christian faith.

Leroy is survived by his daughter Nonnie Long;  brother Gerald (Barb) Malchow, two sisters, Patsy Malchow and Judy (Gordy) Lentz

Leroy was preceded in death by his parents and ten brothers and sisters.

Special thanks to Kurstin Turnbaugh and her sister Karen Shafer and Tiff  Loos for taking such good care of him over the last several years of his life.

In honor of Leroy's wishes, a private "Celebration of Life" will be held at a later date.
