Mary Esquibel Obituary

Mary “Jolene” Esquibel, 63, passed away suddenly, August 14, 2022 at her residence in Thermopolis.  She was born July 13th, 1959 in Butte, Montana the daughter of Joseph and Irene (Atkinson) Casey.

Jolene graduated from Butte High School in 1977.  After high school she entered the work force as a teller at First Bank Butte.  Jolene married Bob Kambic in 1978 and together they had two boys, Joey and Justin.  Jolene and Bob later divorced but remained friends.

Jolene married Joe Murphy in 1987 where she took on the role of stepmom to three Murphy boys, Dan, Joe, and John.  They were divorced in 2002.

Jolene met Edward Esquibel and they were married  May 20, 2006 in Butte, MT.  The couple moved to Thermopolis, Wyoming in 2015 where they enjoyed the hot springs and Wind River fishing.  Jolene and Edward, being Butte people to the core, made a good impression on their new friends in Thermopolis.  She would always talk highly of her new friends and coworkers and how much they enjoyed their lives in Thermopolis.

Jolene was a devout Catholic and a member of St. Francis Catholic Church.  Though she worked many years as a banker, Jolene worked the past three years as Deputy Treasurer for the City of Thermopolis.  Kind, generous and selfless she was devoted to faith and family.  She enjoyed decorating her home and was known on her city block as the “Amazon Queen” as she ordered items for others on Amazon.  She loved traveling back to Montana every summer to visit her boys and their families, being a grandma was one of her greatest joys and she never left before treating her kids and grandkids to Chinese food and root beer floats.

Those cherishing her memory include husband Edward, Thermopolis; sons, Joe (Mandi) Kambic of Deer Lodge, MT; Justin (Megan) Kambic of Great Falls, MT; stepchildren, Nathan (Mandi) Hollabaugh of Conifer, CO, Gregory (Amy) Esquibel of Colorado Springs, CO, Edward Esquibel of Pueblo and Catherine (Frank) Mojahed of Denver, CO; Dan (Connie) Murphy of Fairview, MT; Joe (Trina) Murphy of Spokane, WA; John (Cari) Murphy of Dallas, TX, brothers Joe Casey and Bob (Carrol) Nelson of Butte, MT and 15 grandchildren.
