Mildred "Millie" Grieve Obituary

Mildred Arnetta “Millie” Grieve, 86, passed away May 26, 2021, at the Life Care Center of Casper.

The daughter of Hyrum and Mildred (Garver) Seeley, Millie was born November 2, 1934 in Ashton, Idaho.  Following high school she attended St. Mark’s College of Nursing in Salt Lake City, Utah, earning her degree in 1955.

She married David Dean Grieve in 1957 in Las Vegas, Nevada.  To this union was born two sons.  The couple later divorced.

In 1971 Millie and her sons moved from southern California to Thermopolis, Wyoming where she accepted the position of Director of Nursing at Canyon Hills Manor.  She then was employed by Hot Springs County Memorial Hospital.  In the late ‘80’s she was offered and accepted a position in Valentine, Nebraska to establish an OB department.  Once it was set up and the staff was trained, she returned to Thermopolis and Memorial Hospital where her favorite job was delivering babies.  She was an accomplished RN for over 40 years and her passion always was helping and taking care of people which she continued after retirement in caring for her parents.

An active outdoor person, in the winter Millie would take her boys and their friends skiing every week-end, teaching and skiing with them.  She also enjoyed painting on canvas.  Her greatest joy was spending time with family, friends and especially the grandkids and great grandkids.

Those cherishing her memory are her sons, David (Lori) of Paola, Kansas and Wade of Thermopolis; grandchildren, Jared and Tyler Grieve and  Sam and AJ Grieve  ; two great grandchildren; brothers, Dick and Nicolas Seeley, both of Ashton, ID.  She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Arnold Seeley and sister, Delma White.

Memorial services will be held Friday, June 4, 2:00 PM at Mortimore Chapel in Thermopolis with her brother, Dick Seeley, officiating.  Messages may be offered at www.mortfh.com.
