Born June 21, 1930 in Gebo, Wyoming, he was one of three children of Bertolo and Maria (Lazzaroto) Cavalli.  He graduated Thermopolis High School and then joined the National Guard in 1948.  Called into active duty during the Korean Conflict, Pete’s artillery battery was called the Cowboy Canoneers.  Following his discharge in 1952, he attended the University of Wyoming acquiring a degree in geology.  Returning to Gebo he was co-owner of Roncco Coal Company.  After it closed Pete became a foreman for Fred C. On September 7, 1957, he married Iris Lee Carter in Laramie, WY.  The couple lived in Thermopolis during the 62 years of their marriage.

Pete was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church, BPOE and was a life member of the VFW.  In 1964-65 he was named All American Commander.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening (known for his garlic expertise) and was a familiar figure seen on his daily walks.

Those cherishing Pete’s memory are his wife, Iris; son, Pete of Pinedale, WY, daughters, Piera Cavalli-Nesmith of Thermopolis; and Marisa Stephenson of Marion, IA; six grandchildren and eleven great- grandchildren.  Pete was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Joseph, sister, Rose Andreen, nephew, Craig Cavalli and niece, Gina Cavalli.
