Patricia Ann “Patti” Engelbrecht-Mejia, 86, passed away Thursday, May 14, 2020 in Thermopolis.
Born in Tacoma, Washington on April 5, 1934, Patti was one of three children born to Charles and LoRilla (Brande) Brown. Following high school, she acquired an Associates Degree from the College of the Redwoods.
On June 7, 1953, she married Harold Engelbrecht in Parkland, Washington. To this union was born five sons. The family lived in several locations throughout Washington and California, eventually settling in Eureka, CA. Patti worked for several different Housing Authorities throughout California before her retirement in 1999. She married Paul Mejia on May 19, 2000 in Las Vegas, NV. The couple were longtime residents of Sacramento, CA.
Following the death of Mr. Mejia, Patti moved to Thermopolis, WY. She enjoyed drawing, gardening, going to movies, and participating in Bible studies. She had a love for people, both friends and family. She was a member of the Red Hat Society. Patti had a strong passion and love for her savior, Jesus Christ.
Survivors include her sons, Richard (Barbara) of Thermopolis, Michael (Michele) and Charles Engelbrecht, both of Phoenix, AZ; grandchildren, Elizabeth (Lucas) Whitt of Laramie, WY, Alicia (Chris) Leake of Sugar Land, TX, Ashley Engelbrecht of Thermopolis, Michael and Kelly Engelbrecht, both of Phoenix, AZ and Eryn (Chas) Christburg of Stafford, VA; and great grandchildren, Kaden, Dalton, Logan, Oliver, Morgan, Charlie, and Jameson. Patti was preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Charles and Sharon Brown; first husband, Harold; second husband, Paul; and two sons, Douglas and Steven Engelbrecht.
The celebration of life for Patti is to be arranged at a later date. Memorials may be made in her name to the Salvation Army.
