Richard Lee Beltz, 85, died Sunday, June 11, 2023 at his residence in Hot Springs County, Wyoming after a period of declining health.
One of four children, Rick was born January 15, 1938 in Elgin, Illinois, the son of Eugene and Helen (Peters) Beltz.
Enlisting in the Air Force in 1961, Rick served twenty-one years. For 15 years he was an Air Craft Controller, and 6 years as a Hazard Safety Technician. Following retirement he worked as general manager of the Air Force Academy Commissary in Colorado Springs, CO.
He married Norma Johnson February 10, 2003 in Colorado. The couple retired to the family ranch in Thermopolis, Wyoming that same year.
Rick was a member of the NCO (non-commissioned officers) Club and was on a professional Dart Team for several years. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, mushroom hunting, wine making and creating jewelry.
Survivors include his children, Rick Geiken of Rapid City, SD, Terri (Mike) Coon of Thornton, Co and Pam (David) Kaplan of Carlsbad, CA; sister, Carol Doxey of Canyon City, CO; his caregivers: nieces, Tonya Edwards, Kurstie Holmes, and nephew, Caleb Edwards; four grandchildren and four great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Dorothy Smith, brother, Gene Beltz, Jr and his wife, Norma.
Cremation has taken place and private services will be observed by the family.
