Robert Lester “Bob” James, 91, died Wednesday, November 10, 2021 at Hot Springs Health hospital in Thermopolis, Wyoming.
Born October 25, 1930 in Rawlins, Wyoming, he was one of six children of Staunton L. and Blanche (Souther) James. During high school and thereafter he was a cowboy with the Bloomquist ranch on Bridger Creek until induction in the US Army during the Korean War.
After his discharge from the service he served in the Army National Guard. Bob became a welder/boilermaker which became his occupation until he retired.
In 1955 he married Sandra Lowell in Peoria, Illinois. The couple continued to live in Illinois until moving to Wyoming in 1968 and to Shoshoni in 1979. Following his wife’s death in 1992, Bob lived in Cheyenne then moved to Thermopolis.
He was a member of the VFW, Eagles Lodge and Boilermaker Blacksmith Union. His hobbies included rock hounding, playing guitar and hunting. Throughout his life he was a cowboy at heart.
Bob is survived by his children, Tim (Karen) James of Shoshoni and Debbie (Emory) Blakesley of Thermopolis; five grandchildren and six great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Faye, Cee, Joyce, Howard and David.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, November 17, 2021, 10:30 AM at Mortimore Funeral Home with Pastor Echo Klaproth officiating. Burial will follow at Monument Hill Cemetery.
