Roy Kyle Phillips. 75, died in Billings, Montana, March 30, 2021.
Born October 24, 1945 in Bonners Ferry, Idaho, he was one of five children of Jack, Sr. and Vera (Edwards/Walters) Phillips. The family moved to Thermopolis in 1957 where Roy attended school.
He joined the U S Navy when he was 17. Following his discharge he worked at various jobs in Hot Springs State Park, Meadowlark Lodge, and cowboying for Friday Rathbun. Working for the Skelton farm he became disabled due to an accident on the job. He will be remembered walking Thermopolis on his crutches and later maneuvering in his electric cart.
Roy enjoyed collecting rings and coins and pampering his kitty.
Survivors include a son in Billings, MT; his siblings, Jack Phillips and Violet (Jim) Petty, both of Shoshoni; half-brothers, Allen and George Phillips, half-sisters Violet Wachter, Anna Marie Terry and Shirley Dolan; nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Jack Sr., mother, Vera Walters, and brothers, Grover & Bill.
A Celebration of Roy’s life will be held Monday, April 19, 11:00 am at the local VFW.
