Shirley Elliott Obituary

Shirley Ann Elliott, 72, passed away Friday, December 29, 2023 at the Wyoming Retirement Center in Basin, Wyoming where she had resided since 2014.

The daughter of Samuel and Joyce (Hovey) Haynes, Jr, she was born April 25, 1951 in Thermopolis, WY. Raised and schooled in Hamilton Dome, she attended Casper College. She then taught in a Montessori School in Illinois.

In the early ‘80’s she married Jake D. Elliott at her grandparents’ home in Thermopolis.

Shirley was a member of the Lions’ Club and attended Holy Trinity Episcopal Church. She enjoyed reading and cooking.

She is survived by her daughter, Tina Gilpin of Cody; brother, Steve Haynes of Worland; and grandchildren, Kendra Ogaard, Jamie and Zoey Gilpin. Preceding her in death were her parents, aunts, uncles, and son-in-law, Jimmy Gilpin.
