Shirley Ann Towles White, 95, passed away peacefully April 28, 2026.
Shirley was born on March 29, 1931, in Garden City, Kansas, to Roy Sickles Towles and Mildred Bidstrup Towles. As a young girl, she moved with her parents and her brother, Leroy Towles, from Denver, Colorado to Wyoming, where the family began ranching in Red Canyon in Hot Springs County. Those early years shaped Shirley's adventurous spirit and lifelong love of the outdoors. Some of her favorite memories were her beloved dogs, Tip and Cap, and reminiscing about riding horseback into the Yellowstone Thorofare on hunting trips.
Shirley married Thomas Ready on November 7, 1948. They shared three children: Spring Annella Ready, Barton Brand Ready, and Brook Leanne Ready (1960–1962).
On September 29, 1967, Shirley married Raymond "Butch" White. Together they built a life full of love and companionship, celebrating 50 years of marriage in 2017, before Butch's passing. For many years they made their home in Jeffrey City, Wyoming, where they formed many lifelong friendships.
Shirley was a proud homemaker. She especially cherished the holidays, creating traditions and memories that will continue through generations.
Shirley is survived by her children Spring (Darvin) Longwell and Bart (Janet) Ready; granddaughters Breez (Troy) Daniels and Shantel (Lynn) Sheehan; her great-grandchildren Steth (Elisa) Daniels, SashAnn (Nick) Moline, and Strite (Kaitlyn) Daniels; and six great-great-grandchildren Everly and Finley Daniels, and Meadow, Chisholm, Bohannon and Tipton Moline.
Shirley's life was one of quiet strength, enduring love, and connection to family and friends. She will be dearly missed and forever remembered.
No memorial service is planned. In memory of Shirley, take a long walk with your dog and enjoy the sunshine of a beautiful day.
