Shoshoni resident, Steven Leroy “Steve” Taylor, 80, died Wednesday, August 31, 2022 at Hot Springs Health hospital in Thermopolis, Wyoming after a period of declining health.
Born November 7, 1941 in Pierre, South Dakota, he was the son of Lester and Iva Clare (Hughart) Taylor.
He worked at various ranches in the Pierre area. On January 30, 1961 he married Dianne Engel in Pierre. The family moved to Wyoming in 1974 and permanently to Shoshoni, WY in 1976 where Steve worked as a roughneck in the oil fields.
Steve and Dianne owned and operated Taylor’s Greenhouse, which included four structures, for twenty years. 1000 plants were raised yearly with tomatoes as their specialty. The business was known by people of the extended area not only for tomatoes but for cucumbers which were two feet long and edible with no preparation. Steve also enjoyed antiques and mechanics.
Survivors include his wife, Dianne of 61 years; children Sam of Utah, Scott (Sharon) of Shoshoni, Pam (Ernest) Bulow of Shoshoni and Libby (Dennis) Meier of Thermopolis; brother, Alvin of California; nine grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Steven; a great granddaughter, Magdelina Bulow, great grandson, Silas Kuhn; sisters, Mary, Hazel and Pauline; and brothers, Wayne, Francis “Cork”, Art, Maynard and Norman.
Graveside services will be held Wednesday, September 7, 2022, 11:00 AM at Monument Hill Cemetery with Pastor Gail Moravik, of the First Baptist Church of Shoshoni , officiating.
Viewing at Mortimore Funeral Home will be prior to the service - 9:00-10:30 AM.
